 It's a Boy!
by
We have a son! Noah David Smith was born Friday, March 26, 2004 at 9:55 am. He weighed 8 lbs 1 oz. and was 20.5 inches long. After two weeks of major false labor and two trips to the hospital my doctor induced labor. I was very glad to know that we would not be sent home without a baby again.

Joel brought his xbox so we wouldn't be bored. I thought I might be in labor for a long time since I had been induced, lucky for me that was not the case. For about an hour we played Dr. Mario and I could beat Joel everytime. Then the contrations got really serious and I couldn't really hold the controller anymore so they called the doctor. He was about 15 minutes away so I watched the clock and concentrated on not having the baby. The doctor finally arrived and Noah was born a few minutes later. As soon as Noah could breath he was screaming, and he didn't stop for a while! He soon calmed down and is a very good baby. It's fun to have a tiny baby again.

When the girls came to visit, Lauren was excited to meet him, but after Melanie saw him she couldn't think about anything else. She said "Da da" (Melanese for doll) over and over and wanted to hold him the whole time! I can tell we'll have to keep Noah out of reach until his is bigger and Melanie is more gentle.

Thanks to the xbox we were able to watch movies and we had a nice stay at the hospital.

My sister Jennifer came to stay with us when I first went to the hospital, planning to stay until the baby was a week old. She ended up staying for three weeks! I really appreciated all her help.

After a month life started to feel normal at home. I feel pretty used to having three kids and I'm starting to get the hang of getting housework done between feeding and changing the baby and making meals and all the fun stuff moms do.
