 How Does Your Garden Grow?
by
The peas did finally grow, and in a few days we'll be eating fresh peas! I planted lots more vegetables and they're doing really well. In the front yard I planted wildflowers and they look pretty and are attracting birds and butterflies just like the package said!

After that first batch of peas came up I planted a second, but only three plants grew - oh well. I eventually finished pulling all the weeds and tilled in 1.5 cubic yards of mulch - that was a lot of wheelbarrow loads! Then I purchased three kinds of tomatoes, three colors of bell peppers, zucchini, spaghetti squash, crookneck squash, and cucumber. Sadly the cucumber didn't make it and I haven't replaced it yet.

Now we're waiting for pumpins to sprout and I also want to plant string beans and anything else that sounds good (if I hurry).

I can't decide whether I'm patient or just cheap, but I'm enjoying growing my flowers from seed. They don't always grow exactly where I may have hoped, but I think they look nice.

This year we have an abundance of california poppies and blue flax.

This was also a good year for the irises we got from Grandma Johnson's yard.
